Threads of Intention BOM – June Block

We made it—this is the final block in the Threads of Intention sampler! 🎉

June’s block is a take on the Irish Chain, and unlike earlier months, you’ll be making four of these this time around.

Economy Block Refresh

Yes, we’re back to Economy Blocks—but with four to make this time, accuracy and consistency matter even more.

🧵 Centering Tip:

Just like last month, I recommend creasing the center square both vertically and horizontally. Align the triangle tips with the creases as you sew to keep each block perfectly centered.

📏 Trimming Reminder:

Keep an eye on that ¼” seam allowance around all your points when trimming. It might feel familiar, but it’s still one of the best ways to ensure crisp results when these blocks join the others in the layout.

Speedy Strip-Pieced 4-Patch

This unit comes together quickly with strip piecing—my favorite method for 4-patches!

🔹 Pressing Matters: After sewing your strips, press toward the darker fabric. This helps your seams nest when joining the segments, giving you those crisp, sharp points in the finished block.

🔹 Cutting Options: I love using my Stripology ruler to cut these out quickly and accurately, but it’s totally optional. Any 6½” (or larger) square ruler will do the trick just fine.

And don’t be afraid to chain piece here! It’s a great time-saver. I use this little blade cutter (just a retired rotary blade!) to separate units in seconds—definitely one of my favorite tools in the studio.

Layout Matters

Once your block components are complete, take a moment to arrange all your units before sewing. This helps double-check orientation—especially when working on four identical blocks.

What’s Next?

🎉 That’s a wrap on the individual blocks—but we’re not quite done yet! Stay tuned for Part B, where I’ll walk you through assembling the full sampler quilt top. You’re so close to the finish line!

It’s been such a joy quilting alongside you these past six months. If you’ve been sewing along, I’d love to see your progress—tag @apieceofquietquilts and use #ThreadsOfIntentionBOM when you share your blocks!

Let’s finish strong—happy quilting!
